From the Two Trees to the Human Spirit, Ernest Burnett

I am a retired U.S. Government employee with three grown children and five grandchildren. My wife and I first came in contact with the local churches in 1975 in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1976 we moved to Brunswick, Maine. Since there were no local churches in Maine we commuted to Boston to attend the church meetings. We did this for two years, going almost every weekend with our (at the time) three grade school children. After being transferred to Washington, D.C. in 1978 we attended meetings in D.C. and later in Virginia. In 1985 we moved to Hawaii and have been increasingly active in the local church.

It is my testimony that from the time I came in contact with the ministry and fellowship of the believers in the local church, which is always centered on Christ, I have been intrigued. I have enjoyed beyond explanation the wonderful riches of the Word of God revealed in the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. The first thing that opened my eyes was the realization of the significance of the two trees in Genesis and how my concept for so many years was: God equals good and Satan equals evil. I had no idea that good can also be under the wrong tree (the tree of knowledge). The next item that will always be so tremendous to me is the revelation of my human spirit and it's importance in contacting God. Formerly, I behaved according to my considerations and reasoning, likes and dislikes, or whether things were right or wrong, good or bad. Now I am learning to take heed of my spirit. Through the help of the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee I am learning to walk and live according to my human spirit. It is here that we worship God, fellowship with others, and are filled with the Spirit. I Praise the Lord for His leading me to the local churches.
